Snake Den State Park Master Plan
Johnston, RI

Pare Corporation was retained by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Mangement to develop a master plan for the recreational development of a 1000+ acre state park in Johnston, RI. The master plan met the State's development goals for the park in providing active and passive public recreational facilities/opportunities, while maintaining the integrity of the site's natural and cultural resources. Pare conducted a feasibility study which included a site analysis, the establishment of guidelines, and an investigation of potential required permits.

The master plan provided a variety of activities for public recreational enjoyment, with the goal of alleviating recreational demands on Lincoln Woods State Park picnic and swimming facilities. The plan included a swimming complex, open play areas, picnic tables; a pedestrian trail system; bicycle paths; and a Nature Complex with an auditorium for educational activities.

Pare's work efforts were teamed with the collaborative endeavors of the RIDEM Division of Planning and Development, RIDEM Division of Parks and Recreation, and the Snake Den Study Advisory Panel.
