Fall River State Pier South Basin Improvements
Fall River, MA

Pare was retained by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Waterways and the Seaport Advisory Council to provide engineering services for this improvement project to provide additional infrastructure in order to create a versatile multi-use marine facility, with an emphasis on accommodating Short Sea Shipping.

Pare carried out a detailed structural inspection of the entire south basin area, which consisted of topside, underdeck, and underwater visual and tactile observation of the components.  Pare prepared a Condition Survey Report which provided the results of the inspection, evaluated the structure with respect to condition and applied loadings, and provided a scope of work for recommended remedial repairs.
Pare next provided a Design Basis Memorandum report which proposed multiple alternates to supplement prior engineering and architectural work toward the reconstruction of the existing State Pier Terminal Building.  The most beneficial solution was selected and progressed through final design.  Pare carried out geotechnical investigations, including waterside boreholes, to provide structural design parameters.

Pare prepared State and Federal Permitting applications, final design plans, and bid documents.  Phase 1 of the project is currently under construction.
