North Kingstown Comp Plan Update
North Kingstown, RI

Pare, as part of a multi-disciplinary Project Team, was retained by the Town of North Kingstown to perform the five-year update of their Comprehensive Plan.  The Plan, originally approved in 1995 and updated in 2001, is a proactive tool to maintain viable economic development, enhance recreational and cultural opportunities, and preserve the characteristics of the community that both residents and visitors enjoy.

The North Kingstown Comprehensive Plan responds to the mandate of the State Comprehensive Planning and Land Use Act that sets out certain required elements:

  • Land Use
  • Housing
  • Circulation
  • Community Services and Facilities
  • Economic Development
  • Natural and Cultural Resources
  • Open Space and Recreation

The 2001 North Kingstown Comprehensive Plan Update also included a separate element for Post Road and the Quonset Business Park (formerly the Quonset Point/Davisville Port and Commerce Park).

The Town recognized that its residents are a tremendous source of information and their input would produce better planning decisions. As a result, a survey was distributed to residents and business owners to solicit their ideas and opinions.

The Update was adopted by the Town Council on August 20, 2007.
