Rocky Point Fishing Pier
Warwick, RI

Pare Corporation was retained by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) to provide engineering services to design an accessible timber pier to provide public access to the water. The new pier includes a 260-foot-long wooden walkway with benches that leads out to a 21-by-111-foot main deck with a shade cupola.  The structure, which is elevated 13 feet off the surface of Narragansett Bay, required 122 new pilings.  To ensure accessibility for fishing, the barrier railing includes low cut sections.  For the project, Pare developed a site plan and performed a resiliency review for the site which considered existing topography, FEMA mapping, and CRMC Stormtools mapping.  Pare also assisted RIDEM with State and Federal Permitting,  construction administration and part- time construction observation.
