Pare has always been a pioneer in this field, having developed unique and innovative design standards to address the specialized project requirements of several individual trails beginning in the early 1980s. We have experience both in the feasibility/planning and final design of major bike path, multi-use trail, rail-to-trail, and recreational path facilities.
Included in the planning process are coordination with municipal comprehensive plans, transportation and open space master plans, environmental and historic impacts, route selection, community involvement, and methods of implementation. Gaining public support and buy-in is also a key component of most path projects.
The final design process may include identification of design criteria, trail surface treatment, design of horizontal alignment and accessibility, at-grade crossings and related traffic studies, drainage design, signage placement, bridge designs, and safety measures.
