Pare Corporation was retained by the City of Woonsocket to perform preliminary investigations of eight possible sites for two new middle schools. Upon the City’s selection of two viable sites, Pare conducted an in-depth feasibility study of those locations which involved collecting and analyzing data from numerous sources, conducting field inspections at both sites, and preparing conceptual development plans.

The City then selected an architectural design team—for which Pare was the primary engineer—to design and prepare construction documents for the project. Pare was responsible for the site/civil, traffic, structural, geotechnical, and permitting services for two new 128,000-SF middle schools off Hamlet Avenue. The two 800-student facilities each include a three-story classroom wing, a library media center, student dining, and a 7,000-SF gymnasium.

The project required the design team to prepare an early bid package for the construction of both buildings’ foundation systems to meet the project’s aggressive schedule. Construction observation for all geotechnical, structural, and sitework components was also provided under the CMR Delivery Method.
